A Community Vision for the Future: Mill Branch Park Continues to Grow
Communities are built through vision, collaboration, and people who are willing to invest in something bigger than themselves. In Goshen, Arkansas, that vision is becoming a reality at Mill Branch Park.
We're proud to play a small part in the incredible momentum taking place in the community. Mill Branch Park—home to the Rural Recreational Roads (R3) Hub—has expanded through a generous 50-acre land donation from Dick Bennett. This remarkable gift has been permanently protected through the Northwest Arkansas Land Trust, ensuring that this special place will remain available for future generations to enjoy.
Beyond creating additional recreational opportunities, this preservation plays an important role in protecting water quality throughout the Beaver Lake Watershed. By conserving the Mill Branch stream and its surrounding natural landscape, the project helps safeguard one of Northwest Arkansas's most important natural resources while preserving wildlife habitat and the scenic beauty that makes this area so special.
As part of our partnership with the Beaver Lake Watershed Alliance and the Arkansas Department of Agriculture, the Ozark Foundation was honored to help develop interpretive signage that highlights the unique places, scenic roads, and natural resources found throughout Washington County. These new Goshen Hub signs were officially unveiled during the June 20 ribbon-cutting celebration, marking another exciting milestone for the community.
What makes this project especially meaningful is the spirit of collaboration behind it. The success of Mill Branch Park is the result of countless individuals and organizations working toward a shared vision. Special thanks go to Dick Bennett, the Northwest Arkansas Land Trust, Beaver Watershed Alliance, the Arkansas Department of Transportation, the City of Goshen, and the many additional partners who have helped move this project forward.
And the story doesn't end here.
Future plans for Mill Branch Park include an ADA-accessible trail, a new pavilion, and additional park improvements that will continue transforming the property into a premier destination for outdoor recreation, community gatherings, and environmental education—all while protecting the natural resources that make this place so valuable.
Projects like this remind us that conservation and recreation go hand in hand. By investing in public spaces and protecting our natural landscapes, we're creating opportunities for people to connect with the outdoors while ensuring these resources remain healthy for generations to come.
We're grateful to be a small part of this effort and look forward to watching this vision continue to become a reality.
